Lam Research adds about 200 Singapore roles in 2026, nearly 90 percent in specialised engineering, targeting advanced packaging and AI hardware capability.
Lam Research Corp. plans to hire approximately 200 people in Singapore in 2026, with nearly 90 percent of the positions in specialised engineering and technical functions, the wafer fabrication equipment supplier said on Wednesday (12 August), deepening its Southeast Asian engineering base.
The Nasdaq-listed company, which has operated in Singapore for more than three decades, said the expansion responds to demand for advanced semiconductor manufacturing driven by artificial intelligence and more complex chip architectures. Worldwide semiconductor industry revenue is projected to exceed USD 1 trillion in 2026, according to industry forecasts cited by the company.
Where The Roles Sit
The new positions cover high bandwidth memory (HBM), 2.5D and 3D integration, silicon photonics (SiP) and co-packaged optics (CPO), panel-level packaging, and tool and service intelligence technologies. Each is tied to advanced packaging and interconnect work underpinning AI and high-performance computing hardware.
Lam Research said the expanded workforce would build on its existing local technical capability and its work with customers and partners on semiconductor technology challenges across the region.
Talent Pipeline And Institutional Ties
Alongside the hiring, the company runs engagement programmes with Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), intended to give students exposure to careers in the sector.
Singapore accounts for one in ten of the world’s chips, according to the Singapore Economic Development Board — a figure the company pointed to in framing the case for building engineering depth locally.
“Singapore’s semiconductor ambitions are built on the strength of its people,” said Lam Research corporate vice president and general manager for Southeast Asia Andrew Goh. He said expanding the local footprint would strengthen the specialised talent pipeline.
Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association executive director Ang Wee Seng said the investment “underscores the confidence that global semiconductor companies have in our talent and innovation ecosystem.” He added that deeper partnerships with Institutes of Higher Learning contribute to the resilience of the domestic ecosystem.
The company, headquartered in Fremont, California, supplies wafer fabrication equipment and services to chipmakers globally.
