Honeywell XNX XNX-UTSV-RNIV1 – MPD IR methane 0–100 %LEL, mV, UL, 316SS, 3/4" NPT
XNX-UTSV-RNIV1 is a factory-configured Honeywell XNX with MPD infrared methane 0–100 %LEL, mV personality, UL / cUL, 4 × 3/4" NPT, 316 stainless steel, 3 relays + 4–20 mA HART, no local HART port. It is the SKU for gas-transmission compounds and biogas roofs where catalytic poison or oxygen-free streams rule out CB1.

Why this personality / sensor
Methane is lighter than air and rises to roof vents. Dual-beam MPD IR does not need oxygen and ignores silicones. Mount high, under eaves or at the compressor-hall ridge, and keep the optical window out of wash-down.
Personality and replaceable parts
XNX-UTSV-RNIV1 uses the mV personality (MPD catalytic / MPD IR) board and mates with Honeywell MPD catalytic bead or MPD infrared sensors. Factory-fitted with MPD IR methane 0–100 %LEL. Spares live on product-3991. Do not substitute Sensepoint XCD cartridges on XNX.
Typical applications
City-gate stations, LNG boil-off rooms and anaerobic-digester roofs need a methane-specific IR point. XNX holds the trip while operators stay outside the classified shed.

Installation and wiring
Wall-mount XNX-UTSV-RNIV1 (316 stainless steel, approx. 5.0 kg) on a rigid stand sized for that mass. This SKU uses 4 × 3/4" NPT entries—glands must match; do not retap XNX-UTSV-RNIV1. Land XNX-UTSV-RNIV1 4–20 mA HART per the loop drawing; relays/Modbus/FFB exist only on the matching option board. Magnetic-wand menus on the XNX-UTSV-RNIV1 lid stay non-intrusive. Park the XNX-UTSV-RNIV1 methane IR at the ridge and out of wash-down.
FAQ
- Does the XNX-UTSV-RNIV1 IR cell see propane?
- Poorly. Propane has its own IF1 SKU. Do not substitute XNX-UTSV-RNIV1 on an LPG skid.
- Why not use catalytic CB1 instead of XNX-UTSV-RNIV1 for methane?
- If the stream can be inert or silicone-contaminated, the pellistor goes to sleep. XNX-UTSV-RNIV1 IR keeps working at 0 % oxygen.
- Why is XNX-UTSV-RNIV1 316SS instead of aluminium?
- XNX-UTSV-RNIV1 is the marine/sour-service body (~5 kg). Inland dry rooms can take aluminium sibling XNX-UTAV-RNIV1 and save mass on the bracket.
- Why is XNX-UTSV-RNIV1 NPT instead of M25?
- XNX-UTSV-RNIV1 is the UL/cUL body and ships 3/4" NPT. Do not tap M25 on this lid—order ATEX sibling XNX-AMSV-RNIV1 if metric glands are mandatory.
- What do the three relays on XNX-UTSV-RNIV1 do?
- XNX-UTSV-RNIV1 adds three configurable relays on top of 4–20 mA HART—typically A1/A2/fault. It is not Modbus; bus siblings are XNX-UTSV-MNIV1 / XNX-UTSV-FNIV1.
