Honeywell XNX XNX-AMAV-RHCB1 – MPD catalytic 0–100 %LEL, mV, ATEX, Aluminium, M25
XNX-AMAV-RHCB1 is a factory-configured Honeywell XNX gas detector: mV personality, MPD catalytic bead 0–100 %LEL, ATEX / IECEx (INMETRO on selected MPD SKUs), 4 × M25, LM25 aluminium (painted), 3 relays + 4–20 mA HART, local HART port on the transmitter. Specify it for mixed hydrocarbon LEL points where infrared windows would fog or the stream is not methane/propane-specific.

Why this personality / sensor
A poison-resistant MPD pellistor sees combustion heat across a wide hydrocarbon mix, including species an IR filter misses. It needs oxygen and hates silicones. Mount above light-gas releases and below heavy vapours; keep silicone sealants off the sinter.
Personality and replaceable parts
XNX-AMAV-RHCB1 uses the mV personality (MPD catalytic / MPD IR) board and mates with Honeywell MPD catalytic bead or MPD infrared sensors. Factory-fitted with MPD catalytic 0–100 %LEL. Spares live on product-3991. Do not substitute Sensepoint XCD cartridges on XNX.
Typical applications
Pump rooms, filling gantries and compressor packages still standardise on catalytic LEL because the gas slate is mixed. XNX holds 4–20 mA HART into the ESD matrix; magnetic non-intrusive calibration keeps the flameproof lid closed.

Installation and wiring
Wall-mount XNX-AMAV-RHCB1 (LM25 aluminium (painted), approx. 2.8 kg) on a rigid stand sized for that mass. This SKU uses 4 × M25 entries—glands must match; do not retap XNX-AMAV-RHCB1. Land XNX-AMAV-RHCB1 4–20 mA HART per the loop drawing; relays/Modbus/FFB exist only on the matching option board. Magnetic-wand menus on the XNX-AMAV-RHCB1 lid stay non-intrusive. Keep silicones off the XNX-AMAV-RHCB1 pellistor; light hydrocarbons high, heavy vapours low.
FAQ
- Will silicone vapours kill the XNX-AMAV-RHCB1 pellistor?
- Yes. Silicones and chlorinated solvents poison the MPD catalytic bead on XNX-AMAV-RHCB1. Specify IV1/IF1 infrared if those contaminants are routine.
- What bump-test gas should I use on XNX-AMAV-RHCB1?
- Use the target hydrocarbon at 50 %LEL. Methane-only test gas will under-state response if the process is petrol vapour.
- When should I swap XNX-AMAV-RHCB1 aluminium for 316SS?
- Use XNX-AMAV-RHCB1 (aluminium, ~2.8 kg) in inland, painted plant. Coastal, splash and sour-water decks should move to stainless sibling XNX-AMSV-RHCB1.
- Can I convert XNX-AMAV-RHCB1 from ATEX M25 to NPT in the field?
- No. XNX-AMAV-RHCB1 flameproof entries are machined M25. North-American NPT is UL sibling XNX-UTAV-RHCB1, not an adaptor on this ATEX body.
- What do the three relays on XNX-AMAV-RHCB1 do?
- XNX-AMAV-RHCB1 adds three configurable relays on top of 4–20 mA HART—typically A1/A2/fault. It is not Modbus; bus siblings are XNX-AMAV-MHCB1 / XNX-AMAV-FHCB1.
